We’re excited to share the results from our year-long case study with students receiving 1-on-1 online EBLI tutoring through Growing Through Dyslexia.
Over the past year, 76 students, all diagnosed or self-identified as dyslexic, worked with our tutors. They ranged in age from 5 to 16 and lived across the U.S., Canada, and even Thailand.
Here’s what we found:
Average starting reading level: Grade 1.2
Average ending reading level: Grade 4.9
Average progress: 3.7 grade levels in just 31 lessons!

On top of dyslexia, she is severely ADHD with severe sensory processing and nervous system disabilities. I was worried she was not going to be able to sit or get anything from the tutoring, so I found Taylor who specializes in ADHD kids and Ev absolutely loved her. Who do you work with? Your child—or you, if you’re an adult learner—can receive support in reading, math, and overall confidence building. We specialize in working with students who learn differently, including those with dyslexia.
How are lessons delivered? All lessons are online, so you can learn from home with no extra travel time. Sessions are live and interactive, with expert tutors guiding you every step of the way.
How long are lessons? Most lessons are 50 minutes, giving you time to dig deep while keeping focus strong. Shorter or extended sessions can sometimes be arranged based on need.
How soon will we see progress? Every student is unique, but many families notice growth in confidence and skills within just a few weeks of consistent lessons.

Student Spotlight on Annabel! I have had the pleasure of working with Annabel for the past 3 months. In that time, I have gotten to know the fun spunky girl that you see below. Despite our silly antics laughing together through most lessons, she has grown two reading grade levels in just the first half of the EBLI curriculum. This girl is a bright spot in my day and a joy to share with you!
Meet Johanan, one of my first EBLI students and the reason I sought it out. At 16, he had just finished Barton Book 3, but progress was painfully slow—years from finishing. After over a year of Barton, his skills weren’t transferring; he still tested at a kindergarten level. In six months of EBLI, Johanan advanced to a 6th grade independent level, and his mom shared that he filled out his own doctor’s paperwork for the first time. Practical growth like this is why I teach.
