We’re excited to share the results from our year-long case study with students receiving 1-on-1 online EBLI tutoring through Growing Through Dyslexia.

Over the past year, 76 students, all diagnosed or self-identified as dyslexic, worked with our tutors. They ranged in age from 5 to 16 and lived across the U.S., Canada, and even Thailand.

Here’s what we found:

Average starting reading level: Grade 1.2

Average ending reading level: Grade 4.9

Average progress: 3.7 grade levels in just 31 lessons!

These gains aren’t just numbers. They represent new confidence, more opportunities, and brighter futures for every student.

Student Spotlight on Jamison! Jamison is such an amazing kid! We have made it halfway through EBLI, and he has made such amazing progress already. Jamison is now reading well above grade level and his spelling skills have grown leaps and bounds. Congratulations on the awesome work Jamison!

Student Spotlight on Annabel! I have had the pleasure of working with Annabel for the past 3 months. In that time, I have gotten to know the fun spunky girl that you see below. Despite our silly antics laughing together through most lessons, she has grown two reading grade levels in just the first half of the EBLI curriculum. This girl is a bright spot in my day and a joy to share with you!

Meet Johanan, one of my first EBLI students and the reason I sought it out. At 16, he had just finished Barton Book 3, but progress was painfully slow—years from finishing. After over a year of Barton, his skills weren’t transferring; he still tested at a kindergarten level. In six months of EBLI, Johanan advanced to a 6th grade independent level, and his mom shared that he filled out his own doctor’s paperwork for the first time. Practical growth like this is why I teach.

We love Taylor, and EBLI has been literally life changing for my daughter. We did OG tutoring for a little over a year with two different tutors. We saw almost no improvement through that year and spent literally over $3000. I was desperate to find something else, I thankfully came across some posts mentioning EBLI and searched for a tutor. We found Taylor, and she’s been nothing but amazing so say the least. I was super skeptical at first, because everyone swears by OG. It just didn’t work for our daughter. Taylor met my daughter where she was at. She didn’t make us start all over to ensure there were “no gaps” like the previous tutors did. This in itself made my daughter excited to start a new tutor because she knew a lot of rules etc. already but implementing the rules was where she struggled, real life reading and spelling. EBLI has allowed Taylor to teach my daughter the application of what she knows as well as learn what she couldn’t. That’s the beauty of EBLI, so much more can be taught at one time than just one rule, or digraph etc. EBLI helps each kid use their brain to learn the patterns the way THEIR brain thinks. I was just listening in on a session the other day and my daughter who could spell only CVC, and some CVCE words was spelling expeditionary. Like what? Her reading has come leaps and bounds too. She started at 1st grade/beginning 2nd grade level and just finished reading a 4th/5th grade nonfiction article (which she’d never read nonfiction in her entire life). She’s been with Taylor for 2 months. The difference is really noticeable. Taylor makes it fun, listens to my daughter's silly stories, and keeps her focused when needed. As you can tell, we’ve really enjoyed working with Taylor while using EBLI and can’t recommend her and the program enough.
