About Me
Taylor Gaikema
My name is Taylor Gaikema. I started out tutoring with the OG program, Barton, and after seeing so many students struggle with the memorization of rules and lengthy time to remediation, I looked to the research to find a better program. I now tutor online through zoom with the linguistic phonics multisensory programs Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI) and Reading Simplified, and the writing program ThinkSRSD. I also support dyslexic learners with co-existing conditions including ADHD, speech and language disorders, executive functioning disorder, vision disorders, and movement and coordination disorders. I have been teaching and tutoring since 2015. I have completed graduate coursework in Psychology and Education at the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology at Central Michigan University. Previously, I worked as research supervisor at the Center for Applied Research and Rural Studies. I have experience both developing curriculum for classrooms and teaching courses for all ages, from kindergarten up to college level. My goal as a tutor is to make reading and writing fun and help your child to reach their full potential.
